Trooping The Colour – Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Parade 2016

The 2016 Trooping The Colour at The Queen’s Birthday Parade will take place during a year that celebrates Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday. It is also the 268th year since the parade was used to mark the official birthday of the British Sovereign.
In partnership with the Household Division Charity, the British Forces Philatelic Service (BFPS) has produced the official commemorative cover to mark this prestigious event and which will be released for sale on the 11ᵗʰ June 2016.

The iconic image is from a poster commissioned especially for the Household Division Charity. The cover features a 1st Class stamp from the ‘HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday’ issue, cancelled using the unique BFPS special handstamp No 3198. The Colour will be trooped by No 7 Company, Coldstream Guards and both the cancellation and cover features their Regimental Capstar.
The cover comes complete with an A4 double-sided insert in full colour with an introduction by the GOC Household Division and giving the origin of Trooping the Colour. Both are presented in a cellophane sleeve to create a high quality souvenir of Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Parade.

Versions of the cover for sale in the BFPS shop include the standard unsigned priced at £6 and three limited editions at £12 each signed by the following military personalities taking part in the parade:
Major General E A Smyth-Osbourne CBE, Major General Commanding the Household Division.

  • Lieutenant Colonel J H F Thurstan, Commanding Officer 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. Field Officer in Brigade Waiting.
  • Major R P Hanking-Evans, Officer Commanding Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards. Captain of the Escort to the Colour.

A Stamp & Coin Mart Magazine ‘Subscribers edition’ will be available from the publishers and this is denoted by a special cachet applied to the cover.
