Description
On the 10th June 1822 the Packet Ship Aaron Manby which was built by Horsley Iron Works at Tipton Staffs by Aaron Manby entered in to service between Paris and Rouen on the Seine being the World’s first iron ship.
A 150th Anniversary exhibition was held in Tipton and an illustrated cover was produced for this event.
The cover serviced with this special handstamp cost 20p plus 5p postage.
There was a special post box at the public library Victoria Road Tipton Staffs where items posted would receive the special handstamp.
