Description
This postmark features the Barnes Cross pillar box which at the time of issue was the oldest still in use post box in the country.
The fair took place on the 1st May 1978 which was a public holiday hence the postmark being dated 2nd May.
An illustrated commemorative cover was produced featuring the St Lawrence Church, franked with a9p Historic Atchitecture stamp and cancelled with this postmark was available at 40p each from P Knott 1 Foxes Close, Holwell Sherbourne Dorset
