Description

The Forces Philatelic Bureau is producing two special covers to coincide with the ‘The Great War’ issue of stamps from Royal Mail on 28th July. There will be a first day cover complete with all six stamps in the set, plus a commemorative cover with a single stamp highlighting the role played by the Field Post Offices during The Great War.

Both covers will be limited editions and cancelled using a unique handstamp featuring a wartime mail censor’s mark. The first day cover includes an image of the statue by Charles Sergeant Jagger called ‘Letter from Home’ as a reminder of the great significance of mail to our Armed Forces. The commemorative cover includes an image of a Field Post Office in France during WWI. Each cover comes complete with an A4 information sheet expanding on the theme.

The covers may be purchased from the BFPS online shop (www.bfps.org.uk/shop) and cost £6 for the commemorative cover and £15 for the limited edition official first day cover. They are available now for pre-order on a first-come-first-served basis. The covers are also available by post by sending a cheque (payable to ‘BFPS CIC’) to BFPS The Old Post Office Links Place Elie Fife KY9 1AX (all prices include UK/BFPO p&p).
