Centenary of the Signing of the Armistice 1918

On 11th November 1918, fighting in World War I came to an end following the signing of an armistice between the Allies and Germany. This called for a ceasefire effective at 11 a.m.– it would be on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Peace at last! The horrors of world war would finally come to an end.

To mark this most important event BFPS has produced a numbered limited edition commemorative cover to be published on the 11th November 2018.

The cover shows a postcard bearing an image of the famous painting ‘THE SIGNING OF THE ARMISTICE’ by British artist Harold H. Piffard. A special handstamp, BFPS 3219 featuring the words ‘PEACE! WORLD WAR IS OVER’, will be used to cancel the Royal Mail WWI issue first class stamp ‘100 Poppies, Z and B Baran’.

There will be only 100 of these numbered limited edition covers produced. This will be a ‘first-come-first-served’ item.

The covers may be ordered by mail order post by sending a cheque payable to BFPS CIC to BFPS The Old Post Office, Links Place, Elie, LEVEN KY9 1AX.
