The Scouts and Guides on the cruise came from the Greater London North & Middlesex East Counties.

The illustrated cover  was carried on the ship throughout the cruise and the cover has a cachet on the front  ‘Carried on board SS Nevasa.

There was available a set of 5 covers as follows

1) Departure form Southampton , 20th August with this special handstamp

2)Arrival at Gibraltar , 23rd August with a Gibraltar 2p stamp and a Paquebot cancellation

3) Arrival at Lanzarote , 26th August with a Spanish stamp cancelled at Lanzarote

4) Arrival at Lisbon, 29th August with a Portuguese stamp and Paquebot cancellation.

5) Return to Southampton, 1st September with a British stamp cancelled at Southampton

Each cover was overprinted with full details of each stage of the cruise. 100 sets of covers were signed by important persons connected with the cruise and the Scout and guide movement

The departure from Southampton Cover cost 30p, a set of five covers cost £1.50, a set of covers signed cost £4 whilst two covers, Departure and return cost 50p

There was a special post box at the P & O Shipping Agents Offices Briton Street Southampton where items posted would receive the special handstamp.
