Elwood Etter (USA) produced over 200 event covers for this voyage. The third in the series was from UK to commemorate the sailing of HMS Discovery from Plymouth 1 August 1776. Postmark linking event, Plymouth (Devon) UK on anniversary date 2 August 1976 (note 1 August was a Sunday so no post office open).

The Discovery left later than the Resolution as the Captain of Discovery (Charles Clerke) was temporarily in a debtor’s prison because of debts of his brother.
