XH558 Vulcan Bomber – Farewell Flights

It has been 8 years since XH558 was brought back to airworthiness and now the last flying Vulcan has made its ‘Farewell To Flight” tour across the United Kingdom. A final celebratory national tour, XH558’s most ambitious ever, was carried out on 10ᵗʰ and 11ᵗʰ October 2015. It brought the plane’s flying career to a spectacular close. Two sorties that covered the north and south gave as many people as possible a final opportunity to see the dramatic sight of a Vulcan in the air.
After 55 years of helping to make aviation history Avro Vulcan XH558 made its last flight on the 28ᵗʰ October 2015.
To celebrate and commemorate this historical ‘Farewell Tour’ the Forces Philatelic Bureau in conjunction with the Vulcan To The Sky Trust has released a special ‘Farewell to Flight 2015’ official commemorative cover.

This visually stunning cover shows XH558 in its delivery anti-flash white and final flight camouflage colours.

A specially designed BFPS handstamp has been produced and  is used to cancel the unique ‘smiler’ postage stamps that bear an image of Vulcan XH558 on them. Each  cover is presented in a cellophane sleeve along with an information insert creating a high quality souvenir of the ‘Farewell Flights’ of the Vulcan.

The majority of the covers have been reserved for the ‘Vulcan To The Sky Trust’ but the philatelic service  have secured a small number to sell to  customers at the same price.

All of these covers have been flown onboard Vulcan XH558.

Cover cost £15 with free postage
