The 23rd Convention of the Kent Federation commemorates the centenary of the Paris Siege balloon of 1870 and recalls the first letter franked with a penny black dropped by balloon over Kent in 1841.

An illustrated cover and card was produced both being flown, the card from Paris to Ashford to Biggin Hill and the cover from Ashford to Biggin Hill.

Both card and cover fully serviced cost 5 shillings .

Also produced for sale at the convention was an illustrated cover depicting Kent Oasthouses and this serviced with the convention special handstamp cost 1s 6d

There was a special post box at FSt Mary’s School Chiselhurst Road Sidcup where items posted would receive the special handstamp
