Cover Series RNSC 1
This special handstamp was used on this first illustrated cover issued by the Royal Navy in their Cover Series RNSC.
Around 10000 illustrated covers were handstamped on board HMS Eagle and then then flown ashore to Yeovilton in a Naval Sea Fury which was one of the aircraft types which landed on the ship in 1952.
The cost of a serviced flown cover was 25p and orders needed to be sent to The Philatelic Officer Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton Somerset.
