An illustrated cover was produced by the Hovermail Collectors’ Club
On the 14th August an SRN6 Hovercraft operated by Hovertravel Ltd carried around 2100 covers on a special post Office Mail Flight across the Solent from Ryde to Southsea.
The special event postmark depicts the SR-N2 the hovercraft used on the service in 1962.
A serviced cover cost 30p each
There was a special post box at the Promenade Ryde Isle of Wight where items posted would receive the special handstamp.
