An illustrated cover was produced which depicts a newsboy of the 1870 period next to a news poster with the Headline relating to the surrender of Napoleon III.
The cover could be purchased from Birmingham Post and Mail Ltd, Circulation Department (centenary covers) Colmore Circus Birmingham 4 at 1s 3d each
There was a special post box at the Advertisment Hall of the Birmingham Evening Post and Mail where items posted would receive the special handstamp.
