Description

An illustrated cover together with this special handstamp which incorporates the Gosport Borough Crest were produced to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Charter of Incorporation of Gosport.

All profits from the sale of covers went to the Mayor of Gosport’s Charity Appeal Fund.

Unserviced covers printed in black cost 5p each and printed in gold cost 10p each.

Serviced cover with 3p stamp printed in black cost 20p, printed  in gold cost 30p.. If signed by the Mayor they were 30p and 40p respectively.

Gold printed cover serviced with a 50p stamp and signed by the Mayor cost £1 each.

There was a special post box at the Town Hall Gosport where items posted would receive the special handstamp.
